GROUP CAUTIONS AGAINST DESTABILISING GOOD GOVERNANCE IN ABIA

REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

A sociopolitical group under the aegis of Abia Youths for Good Governance has advised politicians in Abia State to refrain from heating up the polity.

President of the group, Mr. Chinenye Ukaegbu, who gave the advice while reacting to allegations in some quarters that Governor Alex Otti is sponsoring the election litigations of the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, with state government’s funds.

Mr. Ukaegbu said that Otti was not bankrolling Obi’s court cases and described the allegations as false and malicious capable of destabilizing the state.

He noted that it was unfortunate that young people would allow themselves to be used to advance an agenda geared towards causing chaos in Abia State.

The youth president described Governor Otti as an experienced financial expert, who would neither mismanage the scarce resources of the state nor use it to fund any venture that would not contribute to the development of Abia.

According to Mr. Ukaegbu, Governor Otti through his rebuilding agenda has made remarkable achievements in the different sectors of the state’s economy which clearly shows his unrelenting resolve to rebuild the state.

Mr. Ukaegbu said that it would be wrong for the people of Abia State to create a situation that would distract the State Government and hinder it from delivering the dividend of democracy to the people.
