GOV UZODINMA PROMISES INVESTIGATION INTO MISUSE OF ISOPADEC FUNDS
Imo State Government says it will no longer tolerate the culture of misuse of funds accruing to the oil producing communities in the state. Governor Hope Uzodinma made this known during a visit to the troubled oil-rich Mmahu community in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Uzodinma explained that monies meant for the oil bearing Ohaji-Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas would henceforth be used to execute projects that have direct impact on the people. The Governor appealed to youths of the area to embrace peace to pave way for meaningful development.
He described as outrageous, the monthly ten million naira electricity bill paid to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Commission (EEDC) by the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), noting that government had begun looking into the issue.
The Governor’s visit to Mmahu in Ohaji-Egbema followed a crisis that erupted between youths of the community and an oil company operating in the area.
