GORY SCENE AS COMMERCIAL BUS CRASH ON ENUGU-ABAKALIKI HIGHWAY

Some passengers of a mass transit Toyota bus Monday morning sustained life threatening injuries after their vehicle ran into the bush and hit an electric pole on the Enugu-Abakaliki highway.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus with the registration number, YG 525 ENU, travelling from Abakaliki to Enugu, is said to have veered off the road after one of its tyres burst at the Idodo axis of the highway.

It took the intervention of passengers of other commercial vehicles to evacuate those who were wounded and trapped in the bus as they had to use hammer and other hard objects available to break the glasses and door.

As at the time of this report, none of the passengers was dead but some had serious bruises in their heads, hands and legs with blood dripping from wounded parts while one was unconscious.

Calls put up by Radio Nigeria and other concerned citizens ensured that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Enugu Command sent its ambulance to take some of the victims to the hospital.
