GOOD FRIDAY: PURSUE FORGIVENESS AND RECONCILIATION – ANGLICAN PRIEST ADMONISHES CHRISTIANS

HiChristians across the country have joined in solemn services to commemorate the Good Friday, marking the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

In a sermon at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka, the Vicar, Venerable Sam Okonkwo said the death of Jesus Christ was a step in liberating humanity from the dominion of the devil.

Venerable Okonkwo urged christians to reciprocate the love offered by Jesus by engaging in actions that would please God.

The Priest reiterated the need for the faithful to use the occasion of the Good Friday to pursue forgiveness and reconciliation among themselves.

The clergyman described Jesus as a great mediator between God and man and charged christians not to fear death as He had paid a divine prize on the Cross.

Venerable Okonkwo noted that Jesus made a great sacrifice unequalled in humanity through His death, stressing that His followers were expected to appreciate this through good works.

The service featured rendition of the seven words of Jesus Christ on the Cross, anthem by the choir, praises and thanksgiving.
