Abia State Police Command has advised applicants for the ongoing police recruitment, who are not indigenes of the state to go to their respective states to carryout the process before the September 6 deadline.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna gave the advice while speaking with Radio Nigeria at the Police Officers Mess, Umuahia, venue of the ongoing physical and credential screening for applicants.

Mr. Ogbonna explained that since the commencement of the process, the committee handling the exercise had identified some applicants who were not from the state but mostly from Ebonyi and Cross River States.

The PPRO noted that applicants from fifteen local government areas of the state had so far been screened and pointed out that after the completion of the process in the state, there would be a general mop-up for those that were unable to meet up with the exercise.

In an interview, some of the applicants from Umuahia North, including Mr. Okezie Chigozie and Miss Naomi Onyedika, expressed happiness with the ongoing process and called on those who were yet to be screened to exercise patience. The ongoing nationwide exercise is aimed at recruiting ten thousand constables into the Nigerian Police Force.
