FRSC TO IMPOUND UNREGISTERED VEHICLES, TRICYCLE S & MOTORCYCLES IN ABIA

REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) wants residents of Abia State to take the registration of their vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles seriously in view of its security implications.

The FRSC Sector Commander in Abia, Mr. Paul Ugwu, gave the advice while speaking with Radio Nigeria on a recent directive by the Acting Corps Marshall, Mr. Dauda Biu, concerning unregistered motorcycles.

Mr. Ugwu said already, the Sector Command had started sensitizing motorcycle operators and other motorists to the essence of their vehicles being captured on the National Vehicle Identification Scheme.

He explained that the National Vehicle Identification Scheme had helped in tracing and recovery of many stolen vehicles, which were at the verge of being re-registered by the unsuspecting new owner.

The FRSC boss in Abia State said the command would not hesitate to start impounding vehicles and motorcycles of defaulters as soon as the directive was given by the Federal Government and urged those who were yet to comply to do so.
