Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Imo State says it has deployed over one hundred and fifty regular marshals and over two hundred special marshals to strategic places on the highway and Owerri metropolis to curb traffic situations during this Salah celebration.

The Sector commander in the state, Mr. Joshua Adekanye, made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Owerri.

Mr. Adekanye, who decried the non compliance of motorists to traffic regulations in the state, said the command had increased the enforcement level to traffic regulations.

The sector commander said that defaulters of traffic regulations would be made to pay a fine or arraigned before a mobile court.

He called on motorists and road users to keep to traffic rules and regulations to avoid road accidents.

“They should plan their movement ahead, shun speeding. The commercial vehicles should not over load their vehicles. They should avoid taking alcohol while driving.

“And to the parents that will be going to the market with their kids, they should make sure they do not hold their kids towards the traffic side. They should be a sort of shield to the children on the road,” the Sector Commander advised.

Mr. Adekanye said there had been a reduction in road accidents in the last last one month due to campaigns and sensitisations by the command.
