FORMER INEC BOSS, IWU, HEADS IMO COVID-19 PREVENTION COMMITTEE
Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodinma, has inaugurated a nine-member committee on prevention of Corona Virus Disease (COVID -19).

Governor Uzodinma charged the committee to map out measures to ensure that the deadly disease did not find its way to the State. He said the state had secured an Isolation and Test Center within Owerri metropolis to quarantine people suspected to have been infected with the Virus.
The Governor urged members of the committee to embark on sensitization to prevent the spread of the disease. Governor Uzodinma gave an assurance that the state government would provide all the needed logistics to facilitate the work of the committee, noting that a state of the art ambulance had been procured for emergence response.
Chief Uzodinma charged the committee to set up a rapid response center for information sharing with members of the public for early detection.
The Chairman of the committee, former Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Maurice Iwu, commended the Governor for the prompt response and assured him of the committee’s readiness to contain the disease.
Professor Iwu called on the people not to panic with a promise that the team would bring their experience to bear in the discharge of duties. Members of the committee were drawn mostly from staff of federal and state health facilities.
