FLOOD VICTIMS COMMEND GOV SOLUDO FOR PALLITIVES

Flood-ravaged communities in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the food and non-food palliatives delivered to them to cushion the devastating effects of the flood.

They made the commendation while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Achalla, the headquarters of Awka North Local Government Area when the palliatives for victims of flood were distributed across communities in the council area.

Speaking on the development, the Traditional Ruler of Ugbene, Igwe Mkpuora Chimakwa along with the President-General of the Community, Mr. Agbatue, who were on hand to receive the palliatives on behalf of the victims, thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the timely intervention through the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA).

In the same vein, the Traditional Ruler of Awba Ofemili, Igwe Ezekwesili Maduagwuna, and the President-General of the community, Mr. Tony Nwakile, commended the Soludo-led government for the transparency and thoughtfulness in bringing succour to victims of flood in the area.
They also thanked the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Comrade ThankGod Anago, for personally partaking in the distribution of the palliatives to ensure that they got to the real victims of the flood disaster.

For his part, the President-General of Ebenebe Community, Mr. Chukwudi Okonkwo, appealed to wealthy members of the council area to also support victims of flood in their communities as that would go along way in complementing the efforts of the State and Local Governments in mitigating the destructive impacts of flood on victims.

Speaking on behalf of the victims, the President- General of Ugbenu Community, Chief Samson Ojo, also thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for always coming to the aid of his community at difficult times.

The victims, including Mr. Emeka Okeke and Mrs. Ijeoma Nwoye, who have their farms and homes submerged by the flood while commending the State and Local Government authorities for the relief materials promised to put the palliatives to proper use.

Awka North Local Government Area is one of the council areas in Nigeria annually affected by flood.

They got palliatives, including bags of rice, garri, beans, salt, gallons of vegetable oil, cartons of noodles, bales of clothes and bedsheet.
