FIRE CONSUMES SHOPS & RESIDENTIAL BUILDING IN ABAKALIKI

A residential building and shops have been destroyed by fire at Aliugbala Eze Street, Eze and Bros Junction, Mile 50, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. A Tenant, who did not want his name mentioned, told Radio Nigeria that the incident was caused by a spark in an electrical wire in one of the rooms.

He stated he and other residents lost all their property in the inferno that was later put off by the men of Federal Fire Service. An Assistant Superintendent of Fire, Ebonyi State Command, Mr. Yakubu Zekeri, said rapid response of the fire fighters prevented the fire from spreading to other property.

He advised residents of the state to be cautious this harmattan and switch off their appliances when they were not in use to prevent fire outbreaks.
