FG VACINATES OVER 2,500 PERSONS IN OGBARU LGA AGAINST FLOOD RELATED DISEASES

Over two thousand, five hundred people from Iyiowa in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State have benefitted from free Antigen vaccination.

The event, which took place at Idemili Market Iyiowa, was organised by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency.

The event was organised to provide medical care for the people of the area who had suffered from river surge last year.

Declaring the event open on behalf of Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu said the river surge last year caused a lot of havoc in the area and brought with it a lot of diseases.

Dr. Ezenyimulu explained that the vaccination was a measure adopted to treat those affected by various diseases in the area.

The Executive Director, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr.  Fasial Shuaibu, was represented on the occasion by the South-East Zonal Director, Dr.  Eric Nweze.

Dr. Nweze charged the people to always access healthcare whenever they were sick and said the services were safe and free.

He advised mothers to always immunize their children against killer diseases, as there was no alternative to it.

The Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Mr. Arinzechukwu Awogu, represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Liaison, Mr. Hipolitus Obi commended the Federal Government for coming to their aid.

Three pregnant mothers, Mrs. Chinenye Okezo, Mrs. Eucharia Edozie and Mrs. Nnenna Umeh who benefitted from the services expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for such gesture.

Those who benefitted from the services included children, youth people, nursing and pregnant mothers as well as male and female adults.
