FG & STATE GOVT TO JOINTLY REHABILITATE FED ROADS IN ABIA — OTTI

Abia State Government says it has reached a mutual agreement with the Federal Government to jointly rehabilitate federal roads in the state.

Governor Alex Otti announced this during a Media Parley organized by the state government at the Government House, Umuahia to brief journalists in the state on the achievements of the present administration.

The governor said that plans were underway to commence rehabilitation works on the Port Harcourt axis of Enugu-Aba Express way, Ohanku Road in Aba.

He explained that the state government had commenced palliative work on Umuahia -Ikot Ekpene Road and other similar federal roads in the state to cushion the sufferings of road users.

According to Governor Otti, the state government is working closely with the Federal Government to reconstruct the Umuahia – Bende -Ohafia Roads as well as other federal roads in the state.

On his decision to embark on the Ossah-Mission Hill six lane dual carriage way, Governor Otti informed that the desire was to open up the state for economic development.

He said that the state government had paid compensation of N771,000,000 to owners of the 130 buildings marked for demolition along the road.

The Governor, who expressed joy on the recent groundbreaking of Abia Innovation Industrial Park (AIIP), said the project when completed, would harness the oil and gas reserves in Owaza, Ukwa West Local Government Area, to change the fortune of the people of the area and the state at large.
