FG HAS CREATED MANY JOBS THROUGH N-POWER SCHEME – NGIGE

The Federal Government says employment creation remains one of its cardinal programmes.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, made this known in a message to mark the “National Directorate of Employment Special Day” at the on-going 30th Enugu International Trade Fair.

Senator Ngige maintained that the present administration had made significant progress in employment-creation through the N-Power programme, which was opened to unemployed graduates and non-graduates.

The Minister promised that government through NDE would continue to ensure that upcoming entrepreneurs trained and established by the Directorate were encouraged to leverage on opportunities provided by the International Trade Fair to broaden their business skills and horizon.

In a message, the Director-General National Directorate of Employment, represented by the Director Planning, Research and Statistics, Headquarters Abuja, Mrs. Ifeoma Achigbu pointed out that the Directorate had, through its various job-creation schemes, assisted unskilled and unemployed persons to acquire marketable skills, including wage employment, small scale businesses, and become employers of labour.

In a remark, the President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Chief Emeka Udeze noted that NDE since its inception in 1980 had been quite impactful, especially in incubating, nurturing and advancing the course of entrepreneurship at micro levels.

The event attracted Board members of the National Directorate of Employment.
