The Permanent Secretary Ecological Fund Office, Dr. Habiba Lawal, says Federal Government has embarked on addressing critical ecological challenges across the country in order to forstall environmental degradation, loss of lives and properties.

Dr. Lawal made this known in a message to the “site handing over, sensitization and awareness creation on the erosion flood control, bridge construction and road rehabilitation project” at Umuimeyi Nkpa communities in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

Dr. Lawal represented by a Director in the Ecological Fund Office, Mr. Clinton Igwe, urged the people of the area to do everything possible by protecting and sustaining the project in order to ensure that the resources which the federal government committed for the project would be gainfully utilized.

She called on local government leaders, traditional rulers and community heads to prevail on their people to support and cooperate with government to serve them better. The member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Chief Benjamin Kalu, pointed out that the Projects when completed would add value to the lives of people in communities within the area and Abia State in general.

He commended Federal Government for the approval of the project and urged residents of the area to collaborate with the contractor handling the project to ensure its completion within the specific time.

Some residents of the area, in an interview, expressed joy about the commencement of the project and promised to assist the contractor in carrying out the work.
