FEDERAL LAWMAKER COMMISERATES WITH HIS CONSTITUENTS AFFECTED BY RAINSTORM

People affected by the recent wind and rainstorm disaster from Agbogwugwu Community in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State have received some building materials and cash to help cushion the effect of the incident.

Presenting the items, the member representing Aninri, Awgu, Oji-River Federal Constituency, Chief Toby Okechukwu, said the magnitude of the loss caused by the disaster was huge and called for urgent intervention of the Federal Government.

Chief Okechukwu, while sympathizing with the victims, commended the quick response by the Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and assured the people of adequate representation.

The South-East Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mr. Walson Brando, said the Agency had assessed the level of damage in the community and promised to provide succour to the affected people in no distant time.

Responding, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Mathias Onuoha, thanked the lawmaker for the donation, expressing regret that the incident had rendered many families homeless.

Items donated included bags of cement, bundles of zinc and cash.
