EXCO BRIEFING: EBONYI WANTS #1.5BN TO BUILD 26 CLASSROOM BLOCKS; SEEKS TWO NEW UNIVERSITIES

Ebonyi State Government says it plans to secure one point five billion Naira credit facility for the construction of two classroom blocks in each of the thirteen Local Government Areas of the state.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Uchenna Orji stated this while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting at Government House Abakaliki. Mr. Orji pointed out that the project was in furtherance to the policy of the state government to reposition the sector, noting that the loan request would be sent to the state House of Assembly for approval.

The Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious and Welfare matters, the Reverend Father Abraham Nwali, also said that the Council approved the establishment of two more Universities in the state and the setting up of a Committee to ensure their take off.

The State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Sunday Nwangele, added the Council had opened window for faith based organisations to take back their schools that were collected and being managed by the government.
