ENUGU STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGED FINANCIAL IMPROPRIETY BY THE AUTHORITIES OF THE INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY, IMT, ENUGU
The Enugu State House of Assembly has approved a request by the state government to obtain a loan of over eight hundred million naira from Infrastructure Bank.
The House also constituted a six man committee to further investigate alleged financial impropriety by the authorities of the Institute of Management and Technology, IMT, Enugu.
Presenting the matter, the leader of the House Chief Ezugwu said the loan would help to drive development in the rural areas and urged the members to give it a special consideration.
He explained that the conditions attached to the loan were lenient since it was meant specifically for infrastructure development.
The Deputy Speaker of the House Chief Don Uzogbado, MrEzentaEzeani and Chief ChineduNwambawho were in support of the move, explained that the Governor had demonstrated good example in financial management could be trusted with such fund.
Meanwhile, the Chairman House Committee on Education Science and Technology, Chief ErochukwuUgwueze has presented the report of his committee on compulsory collection of hostel fee of forty thousand naira by the authorities of IMT, Enugu to the House. He called on students of the institution with genuine evidence to come forward with them.
The House also constituted a six man committee to further investigate wide range of alleged financial maladministration in the institution.
