REPORTER: CHUKWUMA EZEOGU

The Enugu State Government has pledged to address the infrastructure deficit at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp Agwu, Agwu Local Government Area.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Chidiebere Onyia, made this known at the Swearing in of the 2023 Batch B, Stream II corps members at the Orientation camp.

Professor Onyia, while declaring the orientation course open, assured the corps members of the State Government’s plans to overhaul the dilapidated camp to ensure their welfare during the exercise.

Earlier in an address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Gladys Adama, encouraged the corps members to embrace the orientation course skill acquisition and entrepreneurship training to create employment opportunities after service.

She appealed to the Enugu State Government to intervene in the infrastructure decay at the orientation camp.

Mrs. Adama noted that the camp being the oldest camp in the federation, the facility had over stretched its limit in accommodating the staff and corps members.

After administering the oath of allegiance, the State Chief Judge, represented by Justice Anthony Onovo, encouraged the newly inducted corps members to abide by the rules and regulations of the scheme.

2,345 corps members were registered for orientation, consisting 1,075 males and 1,270 females.
