Two communities in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State have received counterpart fund from the Enugu State Agency for Community Development Project(CSDP) to execute development projects.
Presenting the cheques to the two communities, the General Manager of the Agency, Dr. Maximus Asogwa said the objective was to improve the living standard of the people in the rural areas.
The Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government, Mr. Ikechukwum Ubagu, thanked the State Government for the gesture and advised the people to secure projects when completed.
The Traditional Ruler of Ohuani Autonomous Community, Igwe Moshood Okorie, and that of Isienu Amagunze, Igwe Christopher Nwafor, promised to supervise the work to ensure timely completion of the projects.
Also some of members of the Project Committee of the benefittingCommunities promised that accountability would be their watch word.
Ohuani Amagunze was given over ₦1.9 million for construction of double box culvert, while Isienu Community got over ₦2.4 million for twin culverts.
Similarly, the General Manager, Enugu State Community and Social Development Project, CSDP, Dr. Maximus Asogwa presented cheque worth about ₦4,000,000.00 (four million) to the people of Ezilo-Enugu Ezike in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area.
He said the cheque was the first tranche of money for their chosen water and culverts projects estimated to cost ₦10 million.
Dr. Asogwa called for transparency and accountability in the utilization of the funds, noting that the two attributes were a stepping stone for the actualization of any meaningful community project.
In a speech, the President General of the town Union, Mr. John Urama, said the people were happy with the State Government for the project.
The Local Government Chairman, represented by a CSDP Desk Officer, Chief Anthony Ojadi, assured the people of more projects if they showed commitment to the execution of the proposed one.
The Chairman of the Community Project Management Committee, Mr. Eke, gave an assurance that the money would be utilized effectively.
Also, two other communities in Igbo-Eze North were given their first tranche of fund to start their projects.
One of them Agbonumuadaga was given two million naira while Ezzodo got over one million naira for electricity project.
The traditional rulers of both communities, Igwe Hyacinth Odoh and Igwe Nathaniel Eze thanked the government for remembering their areas and promised to make judicious use of the money meant for the projects.
