ENUGU STATE GOVT BANS MORNING ASSEMBLY, TO SANCTION SCHOOL HEADS WHO FAIL TO ENFORCE COVID-19 PROTOCOL

Enugu State Government has suspended the usual morning assembly in all schools in the state.

This is part of measures to check the resurgence of COVID-19.

The Commissioner for Education, Professor Uchenna Eze, stated this during inspection of level of compliance with COVID-19 protocol in schools.

The Commissioner also directed teachers to dedicate five minutes to enlighten students on Coronavirus disease.

Professor Eze said government had set up a taskforce in the six education zones of the state, fifty-six local area offices, as well as in every schools to enforce compliance with COVID-19 protocols as stipulated by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He warned that any Head Teacher that failed to ensure the adherence to the safety protocol in their school would be sanctioned.

The Commissioner said that the Ministry in collaboration with that of Health would regularly check the body temperature of pupils and students, and called on parents not to send their sick children to school.

He urged parents to cooperate with government to ensure that the deadly disease was contained by encouraging their children to comply with the safety protocol.
