A new taxi scheme is to be launched in Enugu State in January 2021. The planned taxi scheme is a partnership between Enugu State Government and Ingrace Multiple Concept Limited. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ingrace Multiple Concept Limited, Mr. Chinedu Onu, gives the hint during his courtesy visit to the Enugu State Sector Command, Federal Road Safety Corps.

Mr. Onu says that the taxi scheme to be code named “042 Taxi” is the brain child of the Enugu State Government while INGRACE Multiple Concept Limited is providing vehicles for the project. Mr. Onu explains that the aim of the 042 Taxi scheme is to provide easy and comfortable intra and inter-city movements for Enugu residents.

According to Mr. Onu, “the essence of it is to ease the sufferings of commuters in Enugu to make sure that people living in Enugu can move from one point to the other in a comfortable, seamless, easy means.

“Our target is Comfort and Safety.” So you can sit at the comfort of your home and order for taxi for both intra and inter-city movements. We will use it to take people from here to Abia, Portharcourt, Abuja, Lagos and within Enugu Metropolis. There is speed limit device in the vehicles,” Mr. Onu states.

Mr. Onu notes that the vehicles will be assembled locally to suit the Nigerian environment with the taxis to run on a hire-purchase arrangement.

“It is going to be a hire-purchase scheme so that when the driver repays the agreed cost, he becomes the owner and because he is conscious of the fact that the vehicle is eventually going to be his or hers, because we are going to have both male and female drivers, they will preserve it and take care of it.

“There is also the Speed Limit device that will be installed in these cars.

“The good news is that it is an indigenous vehicle built to last. We are going to use INGRACE brand of cars, an indigenous assembly plant currently being set up at Ezimo in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State,” the CEO announces with pride.

The INGRACE Multiple Concept CEO further solicits the support of the Federal a Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for safety and sustainability of the project, especially in the area of training of the would be drivers.

“We came to have a functional partnership with them (FRSC) whereby they will help us in the recruitment and the training of our drivers and periodically they will come for traffic education of our drivers,” Mr. Onu solicits.

Responding, the Enugu State Sector Commander FRSC, Mr. Ogbonnaya Kalu, pledges that the Command will assist Ingrace Multiple Concept Limited and the Enugu State Government to achieve their dream.

“I want to assure you that FRSC will support and see that you succeed in this business. In any area of assistance you may want from us we will be able render it,” the FRSC boss assures.

Mr. Kalu encourages Ingrace Multiple Concept Limited to also invest in the driving school scheme, saying that the number of approved and standard driving school outfits in the state is grossly low.
