Enugu State Executive Council okays the amendment of its Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board law cap 43 revised law 2004

2016_06_16_78980Enugu state government has approved the reactivation of its emergency call centre to facilitate passage of information and communication to
enhance enhance governance and promote crime prevention and fighting in the state.

To this end, the state Executive Council has approved the sum of ten million Naira(N10m) for the reactivation of the Enugu State Emergency
Call Centre (ECC) short code 117 sequel to the memo brought to it by the state Commissioner for Science and Technology, Engr Greg Nnaji,.

According to the state commissioner for information, Dr. Godwin Udueuhele who briefed newsmen after a meeting of the council, the
science and technology commissioner had told the council that the memo when implemented, would help to mitigate the current security
challenges and serve as an effective means of communication between the state government and the people through passage of reliable information, advice or suggestions.

In another development, the Executive Council has approved the draft bill presented to it by the Commissioner for Justice and the Attorney
General of the state for the amendment of the state’s Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board law cap 43 revised law 2004.

Dr. Udeuhele, said that the draft bill would be forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for passage into law, noting that the bill also provided for the appointment of a Secretary contrary to Executive Secretary to correct anomalies that earlier existed in the setting up of the board.

On yet another sphere, the commissioner informed that in a bid for Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration to ensure food security and food
sufficiency in the state, the council also approved that government through its Ministry of Finance and Economic Development authorized United Capital PLc to issue up to N7,000,000 fixed rate bond thus; “the transaction” under N25,000,000 programme either by way of book building private placement offering or such other methods as may be approved by the regulatory authority.

According to him, the transaction would be under-taken either in single insurance or through issuance to a
maximum aggregate of N7,000,000 and at such coupon rate with maturity periods (not exceeding 2 years from the date of issuance).

Furthermore and sequel to the Hon. Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development memo, the Executive Council had also considered
and approved the payment of N25,162,384.12 only to Skye Bank PLc as final payment of the Enugu State Government indebtedness to the bank.
The approval, followed its loan of N312,000,000 and the interest there on since 2007 from the then Afri-bank.

Equally approved by the council was that each local government area should use the tractor and farming implements provided for it by His
Excellency the Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to form the agricultural equipment hiring enterprise cooperative to be drawn from
young graduates of agriculture, engineering including females to boost agricultural produce and ensure better living standard in the state.
