Imo State Government has reassured residents of the state of its continuous efforts to secure their lives and property and without fear of molestation by security operatives.

Governor Hope Uzodinma made this known in Owerri while addressing the #ENDSARS protesters in owerri, who were protesting against police brutality, harassment and other forms of violence meted on youths by the men of the Nigerian police

Governor Uzodinma said the protest had given the government the opportunity to look inward and devise a means to tackle the issues in the Nigerian Police Force, especially regarding welfare, training and discipline.

He enjoined the protesters not to allow political interest to hijack the protest, noting that his administration would continue to partner youths for development.

Some of the youth expressed displeasure with the continuous and unwarranted harassment, brutality, detention and extortion by the police.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions “Iphone is not a crime,” “End SARS,” “Stop the killing,” “Stop police brutality,” amongst others.
