Election Situation Report Igbo-Etiti

Voting has commenced in most polling polling units visited in Igbo- Etiti local government area of Enugu State. Authentication and voting began around 9.00am as INEC officials were late.

There’s a major issue of the card readers failure to authenticate voters’ prints and the ad-hoc staff had to resort to manual identification with the card reader.

At Obu/Ameti One Ward 4 in Igbo- Etiti, the Presiding Officer, Miss Rosemary Olayemi said the card reader could not authenticate the voter and the stamp pad had to be changed before voting could commence.

At Obu/Ameti Two Ward 4 voting had not commenced because the card reader failed as it had invalid date. The presiding officer, Yetunde Alashade said it had been returned to INEC office and they were awaiting replacement. Meanhile, voters we’re seen milling around the polling station. They told Radio Nigeria that they were not happy about the development considering that voting would end by 2pm.
