The Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, has awarded twenty nine million naira as Scholarship and Bursary to 399 (three hundred and ninety-nine) indigent undergraduates in Enugu State.

The Beneficiaries emerged at the Adult Literacy Day and 2017/2018 Bursary Award Ceremony of Ikeoha Foundation held at Ndeabor, Aninri Local Government Council headquarters, Enugu State.

Statistics from the centre showed that three hundred and eighty undergraduates received fifty thousand naira each as bursary while nineteen first year students got four hundred thousand naira scholarship each.

Meanwhile three hundred and two Adult Learners from the thirty-two Adult Literacy Centres of the Free Education Programme received their First School Leaving Certificates.

Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, the Chairman Board of Trustees and Founder Ikeoha Foundation, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, said the gesture was his modest way of paying back to society.

He urged the Beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fund and also remember to extend such gesture to others when lifted by God.

While commending the Foundation’s benevolence, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi charged the beneficiaries and other members of the public to emulate the Founders’ initiative to assist indigent persons in the society.

Earlier in an address, the Executive Director Ikeoha Foundation, Dr. Cindy Ezeugwu, maintained that the Foundation had provided quality education to over twelve thousand learners among other achievements.

Some of the beneficiaries extolled the quality representation of Senator Ekweremadu and promised to utilise the fund to fulfill their education dream.

The event featured competitors like quiz, debate, craft exhibition, match past and recitation by the graduating adult learners.
