Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, EBSIEC has shifted the State Local Government Election earlier scheduled for 15th of next month to 29th of August.

The Chairman of the Commission, Chief Jossy Eze announced this at a meeting with stakeholders at EBSIEC Headquarters Abakaliki. Chief Eze explained that the postponement followed an order from the State High Court restraining the Commission from conducting the Election until all interested political parties were given opportunity to conclude their primaries.

He said that as a law abiding body, the Commission would issue a revised timetable to all the parties in compliance with the court order.

The EBSIEC Chairman therefore called on the political parties to conduct their primaries and ensure that the list of their candidates get to the Commission before 10th of August.

He charged the political parties to play by the rules and shun campaigns of calumny and name calling for the emergence of credible candidates.
