About One thousand, five hundred youths have converged on Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki for a three day #EndSARS Youth Summit.

At the event, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State called for the reintroduction of history in the nation’s school curriculum to enable youths to know more about patriotism.

EndSARS protest, which started with a call for the scrapping of a notorious police unit called SARS later assumed a different dimension resulting in wanton destruction of lives and property across the country.

Ebonyi Endsars Youth Summit with the theme “Youth Engagement in National Development,” is in furtherance of positive approach the Federal Government adopted to look into the genuine demands of peaceful #EndSARS protesters, which included ending bad governance.

Governor Umahi urged the youth to go beyond thematic areas of the summit to discuss leadership challenges and broaden their knowledge about the country’s governance structure.

A former Governor of the State, who chaired the event, Chief Martin Elechi, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for applying carrot approach to quell the protest and appealed to the youth to assist the government to reshape the future of the nation.

A guest lecturer at the event, who is also the Founder Dominion City Worldwide, Pastor David Ogbueli, said organisers of peaceful #EndSARS protest had genuine intention of setting up a change agenda for the country and urged the Federal Government to bring them in, to help reshape the nation’s polity.

Radio Nigeria gathered that participants were drawn from various youth based organisations, including Students Union Government, artisans and the physically challenged with some of them expected to represent the state at zonal and national Youth summits.
