EBONYI STATE: POLICE NAB 25 YEAR OLD WOMAN FOR STEALING A BABY

Police in Ebonyi State have rescued a two month old stolen baby and also arrested a suspect in connection with the crime at Osso Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the State.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Loveth Oda, told Radio Nigeria in Abakaliki that the mother of the baby whose name was given as Ogechi had gone to the market when the baby was stolen from her grandmother who was looking after her.

According to the PPRO, the suspect who was a twenty-five year old woman whose name was given as Mercy, sent a little girl to steal the baby in pretence that she was taking her to her mother at the market for breast feeding.

She said preliminary investigations showed that the suspect was barren after five years of marriage and wanted to nurture the baby as hers.
