
EBONYI STATE GOVT INAUGURATES INTER-MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE ON MARINE & BLUE ECONOMY

Ebonyi State Government says it has keyed into the drive by the Federal Government to diversify the country’s economic sector through the development of its Marine and Blue Economic potential.
Governor Francis Nwifuru stated this in a message to the inaugurating an Inter-ministerial Committee on Marine and Blue Economy in Abakaliki.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezuruike, the Governor expressed confidence in the capacity of members of the Inter-ministerial Committee to interface with the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy towards harnessing the huge economic resources in the state’s waterways.
The Chairman of the Committee, who is also the Commissioner for Grants and Donor Agencies in the State, Chief Solomon Azi, said the initiative would open an avalanche of opportunities in the state’s waterways.
He noted that the Committee would also work closely with International Maritime Organisations in the fight against global warming.
Radio Nigeria gathered that members of the Ministerial Committee were drawn from the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Water and Environment while Grants and Donor Agencies was announced as the Supervising and Anchor Ministry.
