Ebonyi State Government has imposed dusk to dawn curfew to forestall further killings and destruction of property in Effium and Ezza Effuim communities in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

Addressing those who were displaced by the conflict at Effuim Police Station, the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, ordered security agents to shoot on sight any one flouting the curfew.

He noted that some of those who unleashed mayhem on the communities, alongside some stakeholders, had been arrested and would remain in detention till normalcy returned while those found culpable would be prosecuted.

The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Aliyu Garba, confirmed that about seven persons were killed during the violence.

It was gathered that about sixty suspects were arrested in the bush where they were allegedly preparing to launch another attack on the communities.

Weapons allegedly recovered from the suspects included two AK 47 rifles, locally made guns, cartridges, live ammunition and charms.
