EBONYI COMMUNAL CLASH: EFFIUM & EZZA-EFFIUM COMMUNITIES SIGN PEACE PACT

Ebonyi State Government says stakeholders in the crisis ravaged Ezza Effuim and Effuim in Ohaukwu Local Government Areas have signed a peace pact to stop further hostility and facilitate return of normalcy in the area.

The Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, announced this during a meeting between the state government and some of the stakeholders at Government House Abakaliki.

Dr. Igwe explained that the meeting was to further affirm the peace pact and extract more commitments from the people of Effuim and their brothers, Ezza Effium.

The Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Mr. Clement Odah, who led some stakeholders of Effium extraction to the peace talk and member representing Ohaukwu North State constituency, Mr. Chinedu Awoo, who also led those from Ezza Effium, publicly declared to stop further violence in the area.

Effium—Ezza Effium communal crisis emanated from a leadership tussle at Effuim motor park and has so far claimed more than twenty lives along side property worth hundreds of millions of naira.
