DEVELOPING SCORECARD ON REPRODUCTIVE, MATERNAL, NEWBORN, CHILD AND ADOLESCENT HEALTH AS WELL AS NUTRITION FOR ENUGU STATE – UNICEF

Workers in Enugu State Ministry of Health are encouraged to be committed to keeping and updating health records for easy overview of key health indices in the state.  Some health specialists from United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, gave the advice, during a workshop for the ministry in Awka, Anambra State. The workshop centered on developing scorecard on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health as well as Nutrition for Enugu State.

Speaking on the workshop, Health Specialists from UNICEF, Mr. Haliru Mohammed and Dr. Ifenyinwa Anyanyo noted that without accurate data, taking informed decision for the wellbeing of the people, especially women and children would be difficult. They encouraged health workers in Enugu state to keep accurate record, which when forwarded to the RMNCAH Plus N Scorecard, will at a glance, show true situation of maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health as well as nutrition in the state.

In a Paper Presentation, a consultant for UNICEF, Mr. John Quinly explained that the strength of RMNCAH Plus N Scorecard lies in its wide acceptability and accuracy. Addressing the participants, the Commissioner for Health, Enugu State, Dr Ikechukwu Obi and the Executive Secretary of the State’s Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. George Ugwu advised workers in the ministry specially the Monitoring and Evaluation Officers to keep accurate record that reflect healthcare delivery in the state. Participants in the workshop thanked the organizers of the training which they said would enable them improve on their work.
