The Comptroller, Federal Operation Unit Zone C, Mr. Yusuf Lawal, made the declaration while briefing journalists in Owerri.

Mr. Yusuf, while displaying the items, said they were seized from different locations based on credible and timely intelligence of men of the unit.

The items siezed included one thousand and forty- six bags of foreign parboiled rice, one thousand and twenty-four cartons of unregistered pharmaceutical products and two hundred and ninety cartons of imported Eva Soap.

The Comptroller said that the command also impounded sixty-two jumbo bales of second hand clothing and one Toyota Corolla 2018 model.

He decried the relentless efforts of the smugglers to sabotage the efforts of the Fedearl Government in keeping the land and sea borders safe.

Mr. Yusuf said that no arrest had been made so far, but investigations were on going to unravel those behind the importation, their accomplices and their antics of scaling through unapproved routes.

He pointed out that the unit would forward its findings to the appropriate authorities for further action.

Mr. Yusuf called on the smugglers to desist from the acts as the command would leave no stone unturned in its anti smuggling mandate.

He further expressed appreciation to the sister security agencies and the media for their support.
