COVID-19 LOCKDOWN – Enugu state government embarked on boundary inspection

As the federal government eases the COVID-19 19 lockdown with an 8PM-6AM curfew, the Enugu state government embarked on  boundary inspection to ensure full compliance with the interstate lockdown.

The Enugu State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, the Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Edward Ubosi, and other top government officials participated in the inspection across the various borders of the state. While at the various entry points the deputy governor Cecelia Ezeilo shared face masks, sanitizers and edibles to security men at the boundary posts appealing to them to take their job seriously and ensure strict compliance.

According to her, proper enforcement of the lockdown at the borders points will go a long way in curbing the spread of Corona virus and ensure safety of Enugu citizens and the sister States.

The team, which has visited the Enugu-Benue, Enugu-Kogi, Enugu- Anambra, Enugu-Ebonyi among others was part of the state government’s monitoring of compliance with the directive on total lockdown of land boarders  and inter-state transportation ban, except movement related to essential duties.

The Deputy Governor, who represented the Governor during the exercise at Benue State boarder met with governor Samuel Ortum, as they discussed and agreed on the need to shore up security to enhance full actualization of the restriction order to contain spread of the virus.

Meanwhile security operatives at the borders in response emphasised on the need for continuous orientation of citizens especially those in the rural areas.
