COURT REMANDS 3 SUSPECTS OVER MISSING CORPSE IN EBONYI

A Magistrate Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has remanded three suspects in connection with the missing corpse of Mrs. Grace Orjiokoro at a mortuary in Owutu Edda General Hospital in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were two morticians on duty when the corpse got missing, Joseph Nweke and Felix Idam as well as the owner of the Mortuary, Vincent Ude.

A charge sheet obtained by Radio Nigeria showed that the suspects were arraigned by the State Commissioner of Police on a four count bordering on misdemeanour, criminal negligence and conduct likely to cause breach of peace punishable under relevant sections of criminal code Law of Ebonyi State.

After taking their plea, the Chief Magistrate, Nnenna Ogodo, asked that they be remanded in custodial Centre pending the fulfilment of their bail condition.

Radio Nigeria had earlier reported that the corpse got missing on December 28, 2021 when the family members went to get it from the mortuary for burial.
Meanwhile, the case was adjourned to February 7, 2022.
