CONSUMPTION OF PROCESSED FOOD RESPONSIBLE FOR MANY HEALTH CHALLENGES — MRS SOLUDO

REPORTER: UCHE NDEKE

Nigerians have been advised to be conscious of what they eat and avoid dumping chemicals into their body in the name of food consumption.

A nutritionist and wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, gave the piece of advice while speaking with journalists in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

According to Mrs. Soludo, many of the foods people consume were toxic to the body hence the need for concerted efforts to eat natural foods without preservatives.

The Nutrition expert pointed out that the increase in health issues among the people was because the organs in the body process chemicals consumed as food instead of processing natural food.

The wife of the Anambra State Governor urged people not to be always in a hurry in purchasing products off the shelves without devoting some minutes to read the label of such products they consume.

She said it was in effort to discourage the consumption of inorganic foods that birthed her introduction of Healthy Living Club in schools so that the students would be able to imbibe morals and healthy food intake.

The wife of the Governor also explained that the aim of the Healthy Living Club was to teach the school children how to be responsible in life and also groom them on how best to treat their environment by planting trees, disposing wastes properly and discouraging parents from felling of trees.

Mrs. Soludo, who also described physical exercise as key to healthy living, encouraged Nigerians to inculcate the habit of walking out daily to improve their body system.
