COME TO AID OF OUR FLOOD VICTIMS — GOV OBIANO BEGS FG

Anambra State Government has called on the Federal Government to come to the assistance of flood victims in the area.
The Governor made the call while assessing the magnitude of flooding in Anambra East and West as well as Ogbaru Local Government Areas.
The Governor was accompanied on the assessment tour by the Chairman, Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, Chief Paul Odenigbo; Navy and other security agencies.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the tour, Governor Willie Obiano noted that he made a case for people displaced by the flood to the President.
The Governor, who said the flood had started receding, urged the Federal Ministry of Environment and other relevant agencies to come to the aid of those affected, who were majorly farmers.
Governor Obiano lamented that the 2020 flooding, which rendered thousands of people homeless, also submerged farmlands.
The Executive Secretary Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Chief Paul Odenigbo, explained that the Federal Government had already sent a team to take record of the displaced persons and farm lands submerged to enable it provide succour to the people.
He expressed the hope that the Federal Government would render necessary assistance by the time the team would submitd its findings.
