CLOSE-UP DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN MEN & WOMEN IN POLITICS, ECONOMY — MRS IKPEAZU BEGS

The Wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has called for a close-up in gender gap and all forms of discrepancies between men and women in the areas of health, education, political and economic empowerment.

Mrs. Ikpeazu made the call during a symbosium organized to mark the 2021 International Women’s Day in Umuahia.

She noted that for society to achieve equal gender equity, all hands must be on deck.

Mrs. Ikpeazu announced that plans were underway to train over forty thousand women in the state in optimizing mobile telephony, internet and the use of smart phone to do business, trade, banking and social communication.

In a remark, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs In the state, Mrs. Onyinyechi Nwachukwu, represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mrs. Ngozi Uche, while describing the theme of the day as appropriate, said the event marked a call for action towards accelerating woman equality.

The Director, National Orientation Agency (NO), Abia State, Dr. Ngozi Okechukwu, harped on the need to abolish all negative and harmful practices against women and girl child in the society.

The theme of the celebration was “Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World.
