CHRISM MASS: BISHOP ONAGA BANS CELEBRATING VIGIL MASS ON ROADS, ADVOCATES REDUCTION IN CHURCH LEVIES.

The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, the Most Reverend Callistus Onaga, has called for greater commitment to priestly vow and unity among the people. Charging the priests to be alive to their responsibilities during the Chrism Mass celebrated at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Ogui, Enugu, Bishop Onaga advocated reduction in Church levies and encouragement on people to be prayerful.

The Bishop who described Christian vocation as a call to holiness, urged the priests to consider abandonment of material things to work in God’s vineyard and avoid involvement in corruption and violence among others vices. Bishop Onaga condemned and banned vigils on roads and major streets, which he said disturbed road users.

While urging the Priests to ensure that people of God experienced Christ in meeting them, the Bishop called for fervent prayers for the Priests to enable them to achieve the onerous task ahead. The event featured renewal of Priestly vow and blessing of oil of the sick, oil of Chrism and oil of Catechumen.
