BREACH OF PEACE: 51 Suspected IPOB Members Nabbed in Umuahia

The Police Command in Abia State says it has arrested fifty one persons suspected to be members of the outlawed indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB for breach of peace in Umuahia.

The Police Public Relations Officer Abia State Command, Mr. Godfrey Ogbonna made this known in a chat with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia.

He said the suspects were arrested at various locations in the metropolis while marching along the roadswithBiafra flags and insigner obstructing vehicular movement.

Mr. Ogbonna noted that while trying to arrest the suspects they attacked and destroyed one of the windscreens of the police vehicles.

He maintained that since Federal Government had proscribed the group, it was an offence for anybody or group to gather under such group to stage a protest.

The Police Public Relations Officer advised youths not to allow unscrupulous persons to use them to ferment trouble noting that the command was ever ready to deal decisively with anyone caught breaching the relative peace being enjoyed in the State under any guise.

He stated that the suspects would be charged to court after investigations into the arrest had been completed.

Ten out of the fifty one suspects arrested by the Police were females.
