BOY KILLED AS HOODLUMS ATTACK POLICE, INEC OFFICE IN ANAMBRA

The Police Command in Anambra State has confirmed that one person was killed during an attack on a police station and an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Nnobi, Idemmili South Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent Uche Ndeke, the hoodlums came in their numbers on Wednesday around 1:45am local time and started throwing petrol bombs inside the police station and the INEC office.

He said the attack ignited fire in most of the buildings before it was put off by security personnel who were on ground and engaged the hoodlums.

Mr. Ikenga said unfortunately a stray bullet hit a boy who was a relative to one of the serving police officers in the station and he was confirmed dead after they rushed him to the hospital.

The Police Public Relations Officer, also noted that another 16 year old girl, who was also hit by stray bullet, is recuperating in the hospital.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police Mr. Echeng Echeng, had visited the scene to assess the situation while deployment had been reinforced within the state and most especially in Nnobi as well as the entire Idemili South Local Government Area.
