ARMED FORCES AND REMEMBRANCE DAY: ABIA STATE PROMISES TO BUILD BEFITTING CENOTAPH

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State says his administration will continue to acknowledge and appreciate the patriotic contributions and sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed forces in the fight against insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, Armed robbery and other forms of terriorism bedeviling the country.
Governor Ikpeazu made this known in a message to the closing ceremony of 2021 Armed forces and Remembrance Day celebration in Umuahia.
Governor Ikpeazu represented by his Deputy Mr. Ude OKo chukwu, applauded the efforts made by the Nigerian Armed forces in the maintenance of national, regional and global peace as well as security.
He noted that the achievements of the Nigerian Legion in Abia State could not be over emphasized given it’s commitment in the training of security personnel.
The Governor said that as part of efforts to encourage the Nigerian Legion, government had provided two pieces of lands for construction of permanent Secretariat for the Nigerian Legion as well as construction of a befitting Cenotaph.
In an interview, the Chairman Nigerian Legion Abia State, Navy Commander Ambrose Nnabugwu (Rtd), expressed joy with the success of the weeklong event and thanked the Governor for all his support to the legion.
Highlight of the ceremony was the laying of wreaths by the Governor’s representative, the Commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Ohafia, the Commandant Nigerian Navy Owerrinta, the State Commissioner of Police, the Chairman Nigerian Legion Abia state among others.
