APGA, PDP CHALLENGE APC GUBER VICTORY IN EBONYI AS TRIBUNAL BEGINS SITTING

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Ebonyi State High Court complex Abakaliki will on Tuesday, March 28 commence hearing on two applications filled against the victory of Chief Francis Nwifuru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 Governorship Election.

The Secretary of the Tribunal, Dr. Henry Nwior told Radio Nigeria that two motion experte challenging the outcome of the process were filed by the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state, Professor Bernard Odo and that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PD), Dr. Ifeanyichukwuma Odii.

In the National Assembly Election, (13) petitions were received by the Tribunal as displayed on its notice board.

A glance on some of the petitions shows that Senator Sam Egwu and his Party, PDP, are challenging the emergence of Mr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi as the Senator Elect for Ebonyi North.

Senator Ama Nnachi and his Party, PDP, are also challenging the victory of Chief David Umahi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Senator Elect for Ebonyi South while Senator Emmanuel Onwe of APGA seeks to invalidate the declaration of Chief Ken Eze of APC as the winner of Ebonyi Central Senatorial Election.

Similarly, Chief Anslem Enigwe of the Labour Party (LP) petitioned the Tribunal against the victory of Mr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi of the APC just as Chief Linus Okorie of Labour Party is also seeking the nullification of the victory of Chief David Umahi of APC as Ebonyi South Senator Elect.

In the House of Representatives Election, five (5) petitions were filed seeking the invalidation of INEC’s declarations which produced House of Representatives Candidate Elects in five Federal Constituencies except, Ishielu and Ezza North, where election has not been concluded.
