ANAMBRA STATE GOVT APPROVES RENOVATION OF 3 GENERAL HOSPITALS

The Anambra State Government has approved contracts for renovation of three General Hospitals across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Paul Nwosu, made this known at the end of the State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting held at Government House, Awka.

According to Mr. Nwosu, Anambra State Executive Council approved the joint memo presented by the Commissioners for Health and Housing, Dr. Afam Obidike and Mr. Pauly Onyeka, to renovate three General Hospitals in Ekwulobia, Enugwu-Ukwu and Umueri.

Mr. Nwosu noted that the contract covered the construction of male and female wards, General Out-of-Patients Departments (GOPDs) and the renovation of other major facilities within the General Hospitals.

The Information Commissioner explained that the contract for the renovation of the Ekwulobia General Hospital, Aguata Local Government Area was awarded at a cost of N290,553,125.66 (two Hundred and ninety million, five hundred and fifty-rhree thousand, one hundred and twenty-five Naira, sixty-six Kobo with the completion period of four months.

Also, Mr. Nwosu disclosed that the one for Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital, Njikoka Local Government Area, was awarded at a contract sum of N305,928,421.31 (three hundred and five million, nine hundred and twenty-eight thousand, four hundred and twenty-one Naira, thirty-one Kobo) with four months completion period.

The Commissioner for Information further stated that the contract for the renovation of General Hospital, Umueri, Anambra East Local government area was awarded at a contract sum of N395,482,391.04 (three hundred and ninety-five million, four hundred and eighty-two thousand, three hundred and ninety-one naira, four Kobo and the completion period was also four months.

He added that the contractors would be mobilized with 30% advance payment l, which must be covered by an APG from a reputable commercial bank.
