ANAMBRA RESIDENTS LAMENT BANKS FAILURE TO DISPENSE NEW NAIRA NOTES

REPORTER: UCHE NDEKE

Residents of Awka, the Anambra State capital are still worried about the inability of commercial banks to dispense the new naira notes as directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Radio Nigeria observed that most of the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of commercial banks on Regina Ceali Junction, by the Enugu Onitsha expressway, were not dispensing cash at all, while the few ones dispensing new notes witnessed queues.

Also, the machines at other locations like Unizik Temporary Site Junction, were all deserted as none was dispensing as at the time of filling this report.

The people also expressed concern about the daily withdrawal limit of twenty thousand naira, which left many customers, who wanted to withdraw more money, stranded.

The people however wondered where black marketers, who stack the new naira notes at various markets, got such huge amounts.

They therefore called on the CBN to compel commercial banks to dispense the new naira notes to ease the challenges they faced in their daily transactions.
