REPORTER: KEVIN EKEDIEGWU
The Police Commissioner in Anambra State, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, has embarked on an aggressive patrol in and around the state.
Mr. Adeoye led a formidable patrol of Police Mobile Force and Police Counter Terrorists Unit around Enugwu Ukwu, Abagana, Eziowelle, Ojoto and Oba.
Other areas he covered during the patrol included, Ichi, Nnewi, Ichida, Igbo Ukwu, Ekwulobia, Nanka, Agulu and Nise before terminating in Awka, the State Capital.
In Nnewi, the Commissioner paid surprise visits to Area Command Headquarters, CPS Nnewi and Otolo Divisional Headquarters.
Despite the odd hour, Mr. Adeoye said he was impressed that he met the Area Commander and the DPOs at their duty posts and in full uniform.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Commissioner of Police commended their dedication to duty and urged them to maintain such high standards.
The statement noted that during the patrol, Mr. Adeoye visited the cells in all the formations and was pleased to observe that only few suspects were in detention and none had overstayed.
The statement said Police Commissioner asked other Commanders and DPOs to emulate those officers even as he vowed that violation of human rights would not be tolerated under his watch.
