ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY CALLS FOR REHABILITATION OF ANAKU GENERAL HOSPITAL

Anambra State House of Assembly has urged Governor Willie Obiano to direct the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike, to urgently rehabilitate and make functional the Anaku General Hospital in Ayamelum Local Government Area.

The House made the call in a motion during the plenary session of the house in Awka.

Moving the motion, the member representing Ayamelum Constituency, Mr. Uche Okafor expressed regret that the hospital was dilapidated, vandalized and not been in use for years.

He explained that the people of the area had been subjected to untold sufferings and hardship in search of effective and functional healthcare facility because of the poor condition of the hospital.

Contributing to the motion, the member representing Aguata 11 Constituency, Mr. Ikem Uzozie said the hospital was in a pathetic condition and in dire need of urgent rehabilitation.

The Speaker of the House, Mrs. Rita Maduagwu said a functional General Hospital was imperative in the area.

Mean while, a bill for a law to repeal the Anambra State Customary Court of Appeal Law 2017 was passed during the session.
