The Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work being done by the firm handling the construction of Amansea- Ndiukwuenu- Awa- Ufuma road.

The Chairman, House Committee on Works, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma, stated this when he led other members of the committee on an oversight of the on going road project.

The contract for the construction of the road was first awarded by the Peter Obi led administration in 2013.

However almost nine years after, the all important road, which connects several food producing communities in the area was abandoned by the immediate past administration.

The Project Supervisor of the firm handling the road, Mr. Driekus Saayman, who took the House Committee members through the 28 kilometer project, explained that they had been able to ashphalt 1.4 kilometers, primed 5.6 Kilometers and stabilized 6.5 Kilometers so far.

He noted that apart from working to ensure speedy delivery, they were also doing the contract based on the government specifications, which is 20 years durability.

Mr. Saayman explained that the delays during the last administration was because of change in design and stabilization of contractual costs.

The contractor promised that the project would be completed by February 2023.

In an interview , the House Committee Chairman on Works, Dr. Ifedioramma, commended the level and quality of work done so far on the road that cuts accorss Awka North, Awka South, and Orumba North Local Government Areas.

Dr. Ifedioramma while commended the Soludo led administration for considering the road as an important project.

He expressed the hope that the road would no doubt open up the area and attract more development to the agrarian towns.

Some residents of the area, who were seen already making use of the road, commended the present administration for embarking on the road, which they thought had been abandoned over the years.
