AFARAUKWU IBEKU COMMUNITY EXPRESS WORRY OVER THE WHEREABOUTS OF EZE ISREAL KANU

The people of Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State have expressed shock over the continued disappearance of their traditional ruler, Eze Isreal Kanu, father of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, for over one year now.

Briefing newmen in Umuahia after a meeting of traditional rulers and key community leaders, the President General, Afaraukwu Ibeku Clan, Chief John Ezebuiro, explained that the traditional ruler and other members of his family had not been seen since the military invasion of his palace on September 14, 2017, which made the people to visit Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to solicit government assistance on the issue.

He regretted that some individuals and groups had politicized the promise made by the governor to engage other governors in the Southeast region to ensure the return of the traditional ruler before the end of this year.

The President General noted that the Afaraukwu people had never accused the governor of masterminding the attack on the community and commended him for post crisis management efforts pledging the support of the people to the present administration in the State.

He advised politicians to desist from using the disappearance of the traditional ruler for cheap political gains and focus on their quest for public office.
