REPORTER: CHUKWUKA AGUKWE
Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodimma has attributed loss of lives to poor health care services and management of health facilities in the country.
The Governor stated this when he received in audience the executive members of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) at the New Exco Chambers Government House Owerri.
Chief Uzodimma, who said his administration had improved primary health care, also stated that the state health budget had increased to 16.5%.
He appealed to the association to address the lack of negligence by some medical doctors in government hospitals, accusing such doctors of operating private hospitals.
Earlier, the president of association, Dr. Uche Ojinma, commended the governor for fixing primary healthcare centres, reconstruction of general hospitals and roads for easy movement.
Dr. Ojinma said the association was thankful for the enrollment of poor people into the Imo State Health Insurance Agency and promised that they would conduct two day free medical treatment in the state.
